Main Idea Of Program
Specializing in the traditional folk songs of Scotland and the Celtic nations and its influence on American Folk & Bluegrass music. Colin Grant-Adams presents an educational, fun entertaining
look at the music of his homeland of Scotland and the Celtic nations. And how its influence has been absorbed in to the folk music fabric of America. Students enjoy singing and clapping along to the songs and are encouraged to pursue the music and instruments of their choice.
The School program is tailored according to the age of the students that are attending the presentation. A forty-five minute performance touching on the historical and geographical aspects of the music.
Introducing songs that highlight the movement of people and their culture to America from Scotland & the Celtic nations. And how this music was integrated into the folk & bluegrass music of America.
The program includes talking about the Scottish Highland Dress that is worn, stories about the songs, different Celtic guitar styles and tunings that Colin uses and the writing of new songs in the folk tradition. ( According to the age of the students )
To expose students to the music of Scotland and the Celtic nations and
To encourage students to pursue an interest in their ethnic backgrounds.
